I am happy my husband and I went to the Latin American Piano & Violin Concert by Duo Deconet to celebrate Mother’s Day at Mosman Art Gallery on May 5th. We invited my parents in law and we were absolutely D-E-L-I-G-H-T-E-D to hear Latin America music, which is usually played with Andean instruments, being played with piano and violin. It was a new experience, a very pleasant one, and we are looking forward to go to their next concert. You can watch some Duo Deconet videos here.
The event was organized by the AHWBN (Australia Hispanic Women Business Network). Duo Deconet specialise in Latin American chamber music. Its members are Irma Henriquez, a pianist, and Henry Avila, a violinist. Last year, Irma was the winner of the AHWBN Yearly Award 2010, a Yearly Award established by the AHWBN, to identify and recognise an outstanding Hispanic Woman, who has made a positive impact within the Australian Community.
Thanks to Flor Reyna, public officer and founder of the AHWBN, and to Irma and Henry for a great evening!. It was lovely to see you all.
